This 18-hole court was designed by the famous golf courts builder, Arch. George Fazio, and was built between 1970 and 1973 by his nephew, Tom Fazio.

It is definitely the most challenging golf course in the country right now Very tight and in any moment can put a triple or more in your scorecard. It is also the oldest course in Costa Rica a must if you want to test your skills.

This pair 71 court measures 6.590 yards, its slope is 132, and the course rating 71.9, characteristics that qualify it as a championship court. The four pairs are difficult and five pairs need very precise strokes in order to reach the green. The field’s total extension is 35 hectares, which is two thirds of the Club’s property.

The court has 18 holes of excellent design. Its yardage and levels of difficulty are the following:

It has been the host of many International events. Raymond Floyd has the course record of 66 when he won the Costa Rica open in the late seventies.

It is a private club that has produced the best golfers in the nation. It is a very challenging course where the greens run true and the fairways tight. This course will really test all of your skills. Most of the holes are long and narrow.

In spite of the fact that the court does not look long in terms of yardage because it is 1.000 meters above the level of the sea; and since it is necessary to walk up and down its lovely hills, it is necessary to play more physically than what it might suggest. Its design makes that several of its landing areas are uphill, and that the fairways curvatures and their narrowness obligate the player to have to choose from different golf clubs at the starting driver. This makes the second strokes be done with very long golf clubs when aimed to a series of well protected greens. Another important element in the level of difficulty in the court is its uneven downhill fast greens.
The court is covered with a lot of trees and vegetation, the fairways are narrow and have some cross bunkers; besides, they are well protected by sand traps.

Our court is in reality a big challenge for the golf player, even more during the dry season when strong winds blow. It is not only these features, but also its tree population that make of this court one of the prettiest in Central America. It is in deed a paradise for our player for its flora and fauna, a fact that helps to make of the golfing experience something even more pleasant. The fairways have bermuda 419 grass and the greens bermuda 328, which is carefully cut in order to keep it impeccable, so the ball rolls fast and direct.

The Cariari was the site of the Friendship Cup in 1979 & 1980. These PGA sponsored events were won by Larry Zeigler (2 under) and Raymond Floyd (9 under).
