Arrival
Arrive at San Jose International Airport (SJO) where you'll be picked up by your driver who will be waiting outside holding a sign with your names on it. He will take you to Banana Azul in Puerto Viejo on the beautiful Carribbean Coast. Here you will stay in the Apartment by the hotel with beautiful garden and partial ocean view.

                  
Animal Sanctuary/Chocolate Tour
Wake and enjoy your breakfast and prepare to be picked up by your tour company to take you to your Animal Sanctuary and Chocolate Farm Tour.
This trip combines three of our most popular activities: a visit to the Jaguar Rescue Center, a visit to an indigenous family that shows you how they make chocolate right from the Cacao trees in their yard and a visit to a local waterfall and swimming hole. 

The Jaguar Animal Center rehabilitates mistreated, injured and/or confiscated animals, which are then reintroduced to their natural habitat in protected areas. Visitors have direct contact with monkeys, wild cats, sloths, raccoons, anteaters, marsupials, reptiles, amphibians, etc.


White Water Rafting
This trip gives you the ultimate blend of wilderness exposure and invigorating excitement. The Pacuare River is world famous for its pristine beauty. A true river gorge, it is flanked by steep, green walls. Waterfalls cascade into the river from both sides as colorful, tropical birds fly right over your head.


Cahuita Boat, Snorkel and Hiking Trip
Parque Nacional Cahuita has the largest system of Coral Reefs in Costa Rica, including 6 species of coral, a wide range of colorful tropical fishes and the occasional encounter of a harmless reef shark or sting ray. This beach has a horse shoe shape, with the entrance of the park at one end and beautiful Punta Cahuita at the other end.


Arenal Manoa
After breakfast you'll make your way back to Puerto Viejo for a drop off at Hotel Banana Azul, where you'll be met by your shuttle bus at 10:15 a.m. and will be taken the Arenal Area. The ride will take approximately 6 and 1/2 hours and will bring you to the luxurious Arenal Manoa Hotel in La Fortuna.  Have lunch (not included), relax by the pool; enjoy the Jacuzzi and feast in the El Dorado Restaurant (not included), all while you enjoy the view of the flow of lava from the nearby Arenal Volcano.


Hanging Bridges Tour
Pick-up: 7:45 a.m.

Because most wildlife is visible in the mornings, the Arenal Hanging Bridges tour takes place early on a 600-acre reserve filled with lush vegetation and a variety of birds and animals which your experienced guide will help you spot. The trail itself is 1.9 miles (3.1 km) in length, crossing nine fixed bridges and 6 suspension bridges and is laid out at a maximum grade of 7 degrees so that anyone can walk it. After your tour, you'll be transported back to your hotel for lunch.

Canopy Tour
Be ready at the hotel to be picked up at 2:30 pm for your exiting Canopy (Zip-Line) tour.
Sky Trek runs one of the best canopy tours in the country. Your adventure starts with a tour in the Sky Tram to reach the top of the Arenal Reserve. There you begin your adrenaline-filled tour above the treetops, consisting of a system of zip lines. They allow you to observe the rainforest and its landscape from a different perspective, safely in an innovative and different system.

The tour includes 8 cross-sectional cables that together have a total length of 1.7 miles with distances from 100 to 2460 feet, and with a maximum height of 660 feet, which exceed the treetops providing a panoramic view of the Arenal volcano and lake.
They will take you back to your hotel so you can rest up for tomorrow.


Transfer to San Jose
Today after having time to lounge and enjoy the facilities at the hotel your transport will pick you up at the hotel in the afternoon and transfer you to San Jose.  You will be dropped off at the hotel Don Carlos.  The Don Carlos Hotel is located in the oldest historical section of San José, the Hotel Don Carlos is a small, but a significant part of Costa Rica’s rich heritage. Once the residence of two past Presidential families, the historical Hotel Don Carlos’ warmth and charm, graciously awaits you. Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing in your hotel or looking around San Jose.

You'll have breakfast in the hotel and then meet your driver for the trip to the airport for your return flight.

Arrival

He will make sure you have everything you need and will take you to Puerto Viejo to Hotel La Costa del Papito on the beautiful Caribbean Coast.  Our driver will have your flight information and will track your flights just in case of any delays or problems.

Arenal Manoa
After breakfast  you'll be met by your shuttle bus at 10:15 a.m. and be taken to the Arenal area. The ride will take approximately 6 and 1/2 hours and will bring you to the  Arenal Manoa Hotel in La Fortuna.  Have lunch (not included), relax by the pool, enjoy the Jacuzzi, and feast in the El Dorado Restaurant (not included) while you enjoy the view of the flow of lava from the nearby Arenal Volcano.


Arenal Volcano Hike and Baldi Hot Springs Tour
Hike through lush rain forest, with a naturalist guide, close to the base of the Arenal Volcano where we wait for sunset at the observation point. As it starts to get dark, on clear nights you can see the amazing lava flow of Central America's most-active volcano. Duration: 2.5 to 3 hours. Includes: guide, transportation, entrance to private reserve, and volcano viewpoint.

Later, take a relaxing dip in the Baldi Natural Hot Springs and enjoy the area's specialty tropical drinks at the swim-up bar (not included).This is fun for the whole family.  There are also 3 waters slides for the kids to enjoy. Remember to bring bathing suits and towels. At approximately 9:30 pm you will be driven back to your hotel, where you can enjoy the rest of your evening.


Canopy Tour

Venado Caves Tour
Spend the morning sleeping in and enjoying breakfast at the hotel. In the afternoon, go where few have gone before.  Explore Earth's inner-depths in Cavernas de Venado, during a 2-hour trek through underground waterfalls & smooth, stone passage-ways. See prehistoric, marine fossils and exotic cave formations. Spend the afternoon relaxing at the hotel or at the pool.


Transfer to San Jose
Today your transport will pick you up at the hotel and transfer you back to San Jose.  You will be dropped off at the hotel Don Carlos.  The Don Carlos Hotel is located in the oldest historical section of San José, and is a small, but significant part of Costa Rica’s rich heritage. Orosi Valley Tour
Today we get out of the city for a bit to visit Cartago, first capital of Costa Rica, home of Our Lady of the Angels Basilica. After visiting the Basilica we will stop at Lankester Gardens, a University of Costa Rica Center for investigation that protects more than 800 species of orchids, bromeliads and countless species of other plants. You will continue to the Valley of Orosi where everything overflows in unparalleled beauty.

You will be able to visit one of the few remaining colonial churches and will stop for lunch in one of the local restaurants. During your tour you will be able to observe La Casa Del Soñador for an example of Costa Rican primitive art.  Orosi is home to the oldest church in Costa Rica still holding mass.  It was constructed in 1743 by Franciscan monks.  Then, tonight it's back to the Don Carlos and tomorrow to the arts and crafts towns of Grecia and Sarchi to stock up on souvenirs and gifts for family and friends back home.


Grecia and Sarchi Tour
This tour begins with a wonderful drive through some of the largest coffee and sugar cane plantations of Costa Rica. Arriving first at Grecia, we will see the famous metal church. Next, we will tour the fascinating craftsman factories of Sarchi; where they build the famous oxcarts of Costa Rica.  Splendidly decorated and in various sizes, these oxcarts are treasured worldwide for their unique beauty. You will not want to leave Costa Rica without one!


Doka Coffee Estate, Poás Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens Tour
To get to the different attractions included during this excursion we will drive by the city of Alajuela passing by the Agriculture Monument, the Monument to Juan Santamaria and the famous Mango Park. 

Ascending towards the Poás Volcano you will notice the change in temperature and vegetation. You will see coffee plantations as well as fern, flower and strawberry farms along the way, creating a beautiful landscape. 

On the way to the volcano you will visit Doka Coffee Estate for a delicious breakfast and a coffee tour, in an actual coffee plantation where you will learn about the ancient techniques used by the experts to produce one of the best coffees in Costa Rica. Learn about the careful process involved in the cultivation, harvesting and roasting of the Golden Bean.

After the coffee tour continue on to Poás Volcano where you will not only see the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles, but also learn about the different ecosystems in this beautiful national park. 

Following the visit to the volcano you will continue to La Paz Water Fall Garden for lunch and tour. On arrival to the La Paz, you will walk through a trail, leading to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. Inside the park you will also visit the hummingbird gallery, the serpentarium, the bird house, the butterfly garden and the frog’s exhibit.


Departure Day
Have breakfast in the hotel and afterward your driver will pick you up to be taken to the airport where you’ll fly back home.

8 Day Indigenous Vacation
.

Arrive at San Jose International Airport (SJO) where you'll be met by your private driver who will be holding a sign with your name on it. He has your flight information and will track your flight just in case of delays or problems. From there, your driver will take you to Hotel Grano de Oro for one night in a deluxe king room.

Your personal guide will meet you that evening at the hotel and brief you on what to expect in the coming week.


You will be picked up at approx 8:15 am for your transfer to Puerto Viejo on the Carribean coast.

You will change from a mini van to a 4 x 4 taxi in Puerto Viejo for the final segment to Bambu.
You'll then pass through the town of Bribri, which is the main gathering point and shopping area for the locals of the Talamanca Region. Not far after Bribri, you'll arrive at the home of your next host, Danilo Layan in Bambu at the Bambu Cultural Center.

This amazing center was designed and built using ancient traditional Bribri methods, and the architecture itself is stunning. Once you're inside the house you’ll experience a strange, peaceful feeling which will make you want to stay forever. It’s here you’ll be staying for the next couple of nights while you get to know your host, the surrounding area, and have a chance to meet other children and families.

There will be no TV, no internet, no cell phone coverage – consider it a real opportunity to get away from technology!


Now you're taking an exciting boat tour to Panama today. We'll ride in a traditional, dug out canoe on the Telire river to the Yorkin River, then walk about 10 minutes into the forest to a beautiful and secluded waterfall. Swim and relax before heading back to Bambu.


Today you have the option of volunteering at the Retirement Home or spending time exploring the local area.  At the Retirement Home you can do arts & crafts with the residents, play games, paint fingernails, help them with their chores, and just keep them company.

Lunch included at the cultural center.

Afternoon Frog Tour
This is a tour of an indigenous farm (40 hectares) owned by Heriberto. On your hike with Heriberto, your guide will be pointing out green & black, red & black and 4 other types of frogs (and toads too).  There are many types of birds, butterflies, trees, medicinal plants, mushrooms and flowers. Plus you'll get to see Heriberto's house, made from traditional Bribri indigenous construction materials.

At 4pm, a 4 x 4 taxi transfer to El Cameleon Hotel in Puerto Viejo, where you will spend the next 3 nights.
Your guide will escort you to check in and you will have a chance to ask him any last minute questions before he leaves.


Indigenous Cultural Centre and Medicine Man Tour
This tour will give you the opportunity to learn more about the local Bri Bri culture and meet with Don Cándido, a famed local healer who will teach you about local healing plants and methods.

We will visit Centro Cultural Indigena whose purpose is to preserve the indigenous lifestyle which goes back 5,000 years. Today, new generations are losing their connection to the wisdom and wealth of their rich heritage. Don Cándido Morales is the last in a long line of indigenous medicine men and he has undertaken as his mission the preservation of this invaluable culture and to share this priceless wisdom before his culture is lost forever.

Many years ago the indians used the locally found medicinal plants to cure all manner of sickness and disease. The center's objective is to not only to preserve the different medicinal plants of the Talamanca Indian Culture, but also the wisdom to know how to use these healing plants and herbs.

At the centre there are more than 1,500 plants used to cure different illnesses. There is a walking trail where you can see many of these medicinal plants and enjoy close contact with jungle birds and small animals. Also while you are here you can take a treatment with Don Cándido Morales for any illness using nature's own botanical healing system. You can also learn about traditional foods, massage, history and science.

The centre also extracts natural dyes from plants to make handicrafts which are for sale and can be taken home as souvenirs of the Talamanca Culture.

8 Day Spring Break in Puerto Viejo & Arenal


Arrive in San Jose where you will be met by a driver.  Depending on your time of arrival, you can go directly to Puerto Viejo or if you have a late arrival, you can spend the night in San Jose for an early morning departure.  The drive to Puerto Viejo is  through a Cloud Forest and eventually ends up in the Caribbean lowland beach town of Puerto Viejo. You will be staying at Banana Azul for 3 nights.


After breakfast it's off to Aventuras Bravas for surfing lessons.  Semi-Private Lessons (2 or 3 students per coach) are designed for those who want to dive into the action and get the most out of a lesson. These lessons are great for the pure beginner or the more advanced surfer wanting to bump up their skills.

Each class includes a surf coach, surf board and transportation if needed.  Your coach will use long, soft surf boards designed specifically for learning.

You'll then enjoy the beach and party scene in Puerto Viejo. Spend the night at Banana Azul.


Today is your own.  Feel free to rent bikes or walk and explore the town and environs, relax on the beach and hang out with the locals to learn about the Caribbean culture.


Today you're off on an incredible white water rafting excursion on the beautiul Pacaure River.  These Class III and IV rapids combined with some slower gentler rafting is the perfect way to experience the natural beauty of Costa Rica.  After your rafting experience, you will travel to the Arenal area where you will stay at the Arenal Paraiso Lodge for 3 nights.


This morning you will be picked up for your canopy zip line tour.  Zip through the canopy over the mountains and streams.  Stay at Arenal Paraiso Lodge


It's canyoneering day! The Lost Canyon trip is a combination of hiking and waterfall repelling that provides an incredibly unique outdoor experiience.  Imagine yourself deep in thick rainforest at the top of a magical canyon full of tropical waterfalls.  Standing atop the waterfalls you look into the canyon below and then repel to the bottom. 


You'll be driven to Hampton Inn to spend the night in San Jose again for your early morning flight.  Next door there is a casino for some last night fun and also a couple of restaurants adjacent to the hotel.

Arrive in San Jose and your private transfer will be waiting as you exit the airport to take you to Pura Vida Spa and Resort where you will spend the next three nights.  Pura Vida Spa is a private, gated, 8-acre mountainside estate in Costa Rica’s Alajuela province.  The resort has a mountainside Jacuzzi, a swimming pool, an honor bar and a gift shop featuring authentic Costa Rican fares.  Three meals per day are included in your stay.
